Venue Suggestions
Do you know a venue that would be a good place to hold a social or "bring-a-box" meeting? Add it below. Meetings are usually held somewhere accessible to most methods of transport - not all members have a car! Social meetings are easier to arrange in this respect, as "Social" usually means a pub! When suggesting a venue for a Bring-a-box meeting, you should consider the VenueRequirements.
Bring-A-Box
North Baddesley Village Hall. Excellent facilities for meetings, uncertain on pricing or internet connectivity
Overton Community Centre. Plenty of space, tea facilities, and some parking, train (15 min walk) and bus (30 seconds walk). Doesn't have connectivity at the moment, but it is in the plans for the near future. Hoping to use for "OPALS" Overton Parish Linux Society, and to invite everyone else to. GoogleMap. AdamTrickett
Social Meetings
The Willow Tree (Winchester): Serves good food, has a reasonable real ale selection and is most pleasant in the summer, when there's nothing better than sitting listening to the ducks argue in the river as you eat. Website including map. About 10-15mins walk from Winchester Station. Suggested by GrahamBleach.
The Wykeham Arms (Winchester): Good food, real ale map. About 10-15mins walk from Winchester Station. Suggested by GrahamBleach.
The Black Boy (Winchester): Some of the best real ale in Winchester and serves palatable food too. Close to the M3 (junction 11), but a bit of a trek from the train station; probably a 20 minute walk. map
Watership Down: Good pub between Overton and Whitchurch, an excellent mid way point on a summers walk between these villages. Decent ale, good food, and it's a friendly place. Has free WiFi. GoogleMap. AdamTrickett
Activity Suggestions
Is there an activity that you would like to see run at a "bring-a-box" meeting? Add it below.
Gaming: Perhaps one of the gamers amongst us could organise a networked gaming session for a bring-a-box session?
Competition: Some sort of simple puzzle solving competition with computers as suggested by AdrianBridgett.
Bletchley Park: Where Enigma was cracked - see booking form
